The United Kingdom plans to relax its rules against drug advertising and will soon allow advertisements for some over-the-counter drugs. The new advertising policy will not extend to prescription medications, however, for which advertisement is banned throughout Europe. It is hoped that the new policy will promote consumer education as well as increase the number of medications available for purchase without a prescription.
