New York Attorney General Wins Convictions for Medicaid Fraud
New York Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo announced Aug. 27 that
his office's investigation of fraud on the state's Medicaid program by home care provider services has resulted in the convictions of a Licensed Home Care Services agency (LHCSA) and its principals. The employer in question is Immediate Home Care Inc., of Brooklyn.
Immediate Home Care and two of its principles pleaded guilty to stealing millions of dollars from Medicaid by employing home health-care workers who had not been certified as home health aids and were not qualified for their positions, then billing Medicaid as if they were. Medicaid rules require home health- care aides to receive a total of 75 hours of training from a registered nurse before they may receive payment from the Medicaid program. These health-care aids must also pass a written test, given in English.
