Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP has acquired the New York-based bankruptcy, creditors' rights and finance firm Luskin, Stern & Eisler LLP. Michael Luskin, Richard Stern and Nathan Eisler will join as partners and Patrick Gartland as counsel. Four associates will come with them. They will be based in the firm's New York office and Richard Stern will co-chair Hughes Hubbard's bankruptcy and restructuring practice along with James Giddens. The firm is expected to increase its workload significantly as Giddens has represented the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC) since its inception, has served as trustee or personal counsel in six major SIPC liquidations and has just been appointed trustee for the liquidation of Lehman Brothers Inc., the broker-dealer.
Bingham McCutchen LLP has announced that Jeffrey S. Sabin has joined the firm's Financial Restructuring Group in the firm's New York office. Formerly a partner of Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP, Sabin focuses on creditors' rights, debt restructurings and financial transactions. He will be a co-leader of Bingham's global restructuring team along with New York partner Michael Reilly, London partner James Roome and Tokyo partner Hideyuki Sakai. The firm now has more than 100 restructuring lawyers in the United States, London, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

Prior to joining Brown Rudnick, Van de Graaff was Managing Director Principal and Solicitor with Bear, Stearns International Ltd. in London. She has an international practice encompassing a broad range of finance, distressed and insolvency situations. She works with hedge funds, corporations, investment banks and other financial institutions that are active in the distressed and restructuring markets.
