SunTrust Banks, Inc. of Atlanta has announced that Brian K. Scherer has been named senior vice president, director of the Equipment Management Group for SunTrust Equipment Finance & Leasing Corp., the company's subsidiary that provides essential-use equipment financing for businesses and municipalities. He will be responsible for managing all aspects of the leasing company's capital equipment including collateral evaluations, portfolio management, asset disposition and renewal negotiation. Scherer has held key positions in asset management as well as general management at Cargill Leasing Corporation, GE Capital Vendor Finance, Compaq Capital, GATX Technology Services, and most recently, Deutsche Leasing USA.

The Alta Group has announced that Bob Neptune has joined the consultancy to help expand Alta's advisory services for companies involved in state, municipal and federal leasing. Neptune has an extensive background in governmental leasing and is the former president of De Lage Landen Public Finance. Neptune's hiring reinforces the belief that while some companies shed their governmental leasing programs following the economic downturn in 2008, they are now returning to the market. He will be based in Kansas City, MO.

AEL Financial of Buffalo Grove, IL, has named Ed Pacewicz as new chief financial officer. He will lead the finance, treasury and accounting teams of AEL Financial and KeyAssets Financial, LLC, a global leasing and equipment services company in the semiconductor industry. Pacewicz was a former executive at Comdisco, Inc., and has most recently served as CFO at BFG Technologies, Inc., a high-technology distribution company.
