O'Melveny & Myers LLP has named Andrew Parlen as a new partner in the firm's Restructuring Practice, resident in the Los Angeles office. With a practice that spans both Chapter 11 matters and restructurings, he advises distressed and potentially distressed companies, as well as committees, creditors, private equity sponsors, and asset purchasers. Parlen joined O'Melveny in 2007.

Atara Miller has been elected to partner in the Litigation & Arbitration Group of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP. Ms. Miller's practice focuses on federal and state court litigation of complex commercial matters, including the defense of individual lenders and lender groups against fraudulent transfer claims. In addition, she has prosecuted fraudulent misrepresentation claims on behalf of secured lenders.

Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP has announced that Steven B. Smith has joined the firm's New York office as a partner in its Restructuring & Insolvency Department. Previously a counsel at Dechert LLP, Smith represents clients throughout the U.S. in complex corporate restructuring and creditors' rights issues, with a particular focus on Chapter 11 matters.

Bennett S. Silverberg has joined the Restructuring Group of Brown Rudnick LLP in the firm's New York office. Formerly with DLA Piper, Bennett's arrival reunites him with the former Chair of DLA Piper's Restructuring Practice Group, H. Jeffrey Schwartz, who joined Brown Rudnick in October 2011. Silverberg's engagements have ranged across a wide array of industries, including automotive, food, manufacturing, real estate, lending, technology and telecommunications.

Hodgson Russ announced that Heidi J. Sorvino and Carmine J. Castellano have joined the firm's Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Commercial Litigation Practice Group, Sorvino as a partner and Castellano as a senior associate. Both are resident in the New York office. They were previously with Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP, where Sorvino was co-chair of the Bankruptcy and Involvency Group.
