Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP has announced that John Yiu has joined the firm as a litigation partner in Hong Kong. Yiu's practice encompasses all aspects of litigation, including insolvency and restructuring, employment litigation, and shipping litigation. Before joining Edwards Wildman, Yiu was a partner of ONC Lawyers, a litigation practice in Hong Kong. He has also held various roles with international law firms, including Paul Hastings Janofsky Walker LLP.

Edwards Wildman's Hong Kong office was founded in 2006 by association with local firm Lister Lo Lui & Choy. On Jan. 1, 2013, the office was formally integrated into Edwards Wildman and recognized as a law firm permitted to practice Hong Kong law.

Dr. Matthias Kampshoff has joined McDermott Will & Emery LLP as a partner based in the firm's Dsseldorf office. He will provide McDermott's Restructuring & Insolvency practice with extensive experience in German bankruptcy law, particularly as it relates to insolvent companies, their officers, shareholders, investors as well as bankruptcy administrators and creditors. Dr. Kampshoff, formerly a partner and practice area head at Taylor Wessing LLP in Dsseldorf, counsels clients on all corporate and bankruptcy-law related issues, and specializes in the energy, pharmaceutical and automotive sectors. In particular, he helps guide companies in their self-administration and regularly advises on national and international distressed M&A transactions. With this hire, McDermott has 47 restructuring lawyers throughout the world, including six now located in Germany.

Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP has named Samuel A. Khalil as a partner, resident in the firm's New York office. A member of the Financial Restructuring Group, Khalil represents debtors and creditors in Chapter 11 reorganization cases and out-of-court workouts both in the U.S. and internationally. He also regularly represents private equity funds and hedge funds acquiring control positions in financially distressed companies. Khalil's recent representations include significant roles in the Chapter 11 cases of NewPage Corporation, Southern Air Holdings, Inc., and Lyondell Chemical Company.
