The American Bar Association (ABA) adopted a policy on cybersecurity last month at the 2014 ABA Annual Meeting in Boston.
The policy was passed by the ABA House of Delegates through a voice vote. The House of Delegates includes 560 delegates who represent state and local bar associations, and other ABA entities and affiliated organizations. Those in attendance overwhelmingly voted in favor of the policy, the ABA reported. See, http://bit.ly/1uXcF4Q.
Resolution 109, states: “Resolved, that the American Bar Association encourages all private and public sector organizations to develop, implement and maintain an appropriate cybersecurity program that complies with applicable ethical and legal obligations and is tailored to the nature and scope of the organization and the data and systems to be protected.”'
Among other actions, the Delegates approved a package of changes to the ABA's law school standards, including allowing more distance-learning credits.
