There was no immediate word on an interim successor. The PTO's chief financial officer, Anthony Scardino, serves as the agency's acting deputy director.
Lee was appointed to the position by President Barack Obama in 2014. The Trump administration had agreed to keep her in the role but never seemed to give her a firm vote of confidence.
