Paul M. Basta has joined the New York office of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP as co-chair of the Bankruptcy & Corporate Reorganization Department. Basta was previously a partner in the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis, which he left in July. While at Kirkland, Basta represented a long list of distressed companies, including most recently Caesars Entertainment Operating Co.

Thompson & Knight LLP announced that Patrick Trostle has joined the firm's New York office as partner in the bankruptcy and restructuring practice group. Trostle was formerly a partner at Jenner & Block, and served as chair of its New York restructuring and bankruptcy practice.

Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP has expanded its new Dallas, TX, office with the addition of Vince Slusher as partner in the firm's corporate restructuring practice. He was previously a partner at DLA Piper. Drinker Biddle opened its Dallas office earlier this year with a group of 23 lawyers in practice areas that include product liability, class actions, insurance coverage, business disputes and commercial litigation.

Commercial litigation funder Bentham IMF is launching a new bankruptcy litigation funding platform to help debtors, creditors and other stakeholders involved in commercial disputes. Leading the initiative is New York bankruptcy lawyer, Ken Epstein, who joins the company as an investment manager and legal counsel. He was formerly a managing director in the restructuring group at MBIA. Epstein started his career in the financial restructuring group at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. Bentham's new funding platform will provide non-recourse funding to debtors-in-possession, creditors and official committees, Chapter 11 trustees and post-confirmation estates.
