H. Jeffrey Schwartz, has joined McKool Smith as a principal in the firm's New York office. Previously, he was a partner and co-chair of the Restructuring and Business Bankruptcy practice at Robins Kaplan LLP. Schwartz has more than 30 years of experience representing debtors, secured lenders, fiduciaries and official creditors' committees in major restructuring and reorganization matters. Notably, he served as lead counsel for the Chapter 7 trustee for ITT Education, Inc. in the prosecution of D&O claims and for the Official General Unsecured Creditors Committee of Corinthian Colleges, Inc., the largest for-profit post-secondary education provider to file for Chapter 11 reorganization.
George Davis has joined the New York office of Latham & Watkins LLP and will serve as Global Co-Chair of the Restructuring, Insolvency & Workouts Practice within the Finance Department. Previously a partner at O'Melveny & Myers LLP, Davis has advised public and private companies around the world on some of the most complex restructurings in- and out-of-court. A few weeks earlier, the firm also announced that Jeffrey E. Bjork joined the firm's Los Angeles office as a partner. Formerly a partner at Sidley Austin LLP in Los Angeles, Bjork represents debtors and creditors in all aspects of restructurings across industries, and he has notable experience in major municipal restructurings.
