Already facing similar litigation in China and California, TikTok Inc. has now been hit with copyright infringement litigation in Texas by a Chinese software company.
The Texas lawsuit alleged that the social video app and parent company ByteDance Ltd. copied software code, and deleted or altered copyright management information in the code, and then used the code in the app that has 175 million downloads.
"The TikTop app consists of plaintiff's proprietary information, trade secrets and reproduced software codes," alleged Beijing Meishe Network Technology Co., a smart video and audio service provider for mobile app, smart phones, radio and television.
