Marketing Tech: The Best Ways to Use Technology to Supplement, Rather Than Replace, Your Networking

BY Ari Kaplan
November 02, 2015

I love technology, but sometimes it gets in the way. While our digital tools have changed our lives, making us more efficient, responsive, and productive, it can confuse our sensibilities.

My two-year-old nephew loves his Florida-based grandmother so much that every time he sees a mobile phone, he says her name. He thinks she is on the line because he is so used to speaking to her through Skype or Face Time from New York City. His eyes light up and it is wonderful to see. It's also shocking that someone could be so fond of my mother-in-law (I am just kidding; she doesn't read my articles anyway). His enthusiasm (and judgment) aside, he still prefers seeing her in person.

While I am a strong advocate for leveraging technology to enhance marketing, networking and business development, I have repeatedly observed that it cannot serve as a sufficient substitute for live interaction.
