IOC and Paris Attorneys Combatting Trademark Abuse at the Olympics

By Rick Mitchell
August 01, 2024

As the Paris Olympic Games get underway, trademark attorneys for the International Olympic Committee and Paris organizing committee will be working to protect the Olympic brand.

One of the primary concerns for Paris 2024 trademark enforcers is companies engaging in so-called ambush marketing, attempting to leverage the event's prestige without becoming official sponsors, according to lawyers.

Paris Olympics authorities expect around four billion TV viewers, millions of tickets sold to thousands of spectators, and some 26,000 media representatives for the games, which run July 26 to August 11, followed by the Paralympic Games.
